Overview   Living

With its graceful Edwardian architecture, wide streets buzzing with an eclectic mix of shops, cafes and restaurants and access to some of London’s loveliest open green spaces, Golders Green offers a relaxed environment within easy travelling distance of central London.

Situated in the borough of Barnet, Golders Green has a charming, slightly old-world feel.  The area has been home to a thriving Jewish community since Edwardian times but more recently it has seen the arrival of prosperous Southeast Asian and Japanese families, attracted by its top performing schools and well-proportioned houses.

The name ‘Golders Green’ has existed in parish records since the 13th century but the area remained largely undeveloped until the Northern Line tube station opened in 1907. The area is mainly characterised by large semi-detached houses with spacious rooms and generously sized gardens, most of which were constructed in the first three decades of the 20th century.

Located within a short walk of the main shopping centre, Golders Hill Park is a well-kept green outdoor space that leads on to the wider (and wilder) expanse of Hampstead Heath.  This lovely park has a children’s play area, a café, tennis courts and even a small zoo: the perfect place to relax and have fun with the family at weekends.

Golders Green Property Profile

With the exception of Hampstead Garden Suburb, properties in the NW11 postcode tend to be slightly cheaper than those in Hampstead, West Hampstead and Highgate.
