Swiss Cottage Area Guide Eat, Drink, Coffee and Live

This vibrant area of London ironically gets its name from a pub built in the mid-19th century. The Swiss Tavern is a chalet-style building that still remains today as Ye Olde Swiss Cottage.

Coffee – Del’Aziz Swiss Cottage

This chain of restaurants is well known for offering the flavours and scents of the Mediterranean and North Africa. Del’Aziz Swiss Cottage, however, is also a family friendly deli with wood tables and comfortable leather sofas, ideal for relaxing and enjoying one of its wide range of coffees and iced coffees, teas, juices and more. The patisserie displays are very attractive, ideal for accompanying a hot drink or if you would like something more substantial, a wide selection of food is served.  You can also hire out this unique restaurant for client entertaining, birthday parties, wedding receptions and product launches. Located on the ground floor of the Swiss Cottage Leisure Centre.

Eat – Bradleys

Located on the Winchester Road, Simon and Jolanta Bradley’s restaurant has been successfully part of Swiss Cottage since the 1990s.  Having trained at The Intercontinental Hotel Park Lane, the style of food they offer is best described as Great British with a French accent, with the majority of seasonal produce coming from around the British Isles.  Fish comes daily from Devon, lamb and beef is sourced from the West Country and oysters from Ireland.  With a light and contemporary interior, their close proximity to the Hampstead Theatre allows customers to enjoy a pre-theatre menu.  The restaurant has been awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand Award since 2009.Bradleys SwissCottage liv

Drink – Ambar at The Odeon

Ambar Bar is located within the Odeon IMAX cinema, Swiss Cottage, and is a spacious contemporary venue spanning the full front of the Odeon.  A £3 million refurbishment of the cinema took place in 2011, when Ambar was created.  A sympathetic restoration programme ensured that the original Art Deco features remained.  Bespoke seating provides a perfect place to stop and enjoy a refreshing drink during the day, or a chance to sample one of their huge range of cocktails, spirits, champagnes and wines.  You’re even able to take your drink into the cinema and enjoy it while watching the latest movie.

Social – Hampstead Theatre

Just a short stroll from Bradleys and close to Swiss Cottage underground station, this theatre still remains popular after 55 years.  Hampstead Theatre has become one of London’s liveliest venues, with some of the greatest actors in the World having graced its stage.  A 325 seat theatre, with an additional theatre downstairs seating approximately 80 people has a constant stream of productions with leading writers and actors.  Many of the theatres shows often transfer to the West End.  Tickets are reasonable for around £10 (concessions) to £35 for the main house shows and the downstairs theatre are usually around £12.  A bar area sells a good selection of hot meals and light bites.
