Eat, Drink, Coffee & Social in Hampstead

The following are just a few delights you can visit for delicious eats, a welcome tipple, great coffee and special events in the area.

Coffee – The Coffee Cup

Located in Hampstead High Street, this iconic establishment has been treating the Hampstead population to a great brew for over 50 years, with a variety of different coffees, teas, hot chocolates and cold drinks on offer. In recent years, its acquisition by the Villa Bianca Group means it now provides much more and offers an all-day dining menu. If you are looking for a hearty (or healthy) breakfast to start your day, a snack with the children, lunch with friends or a three course dinner with the family, this is the place to come.

Eat – Gaucho Grill

Tucked in a leafy corner of Heath Street, this glamorous, contemporary Argentine restaurant oozes sophistication with an impressive menu to boot. Try the reasonably priced two to three course lunches, which features meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. There's also the traditional ‘asado’ - Argentina’s national barbecue - on a sheltered terrace, the option of group tastings and jazz nights. Gaucho is ideal for business lunches, dinners and even dogs - with the restaurant operating pooch-friendly sittings on selected Sundays.

Drink – The Wells Tavern

Situated just a few minutes’ walk away from Hampstead Heath in Well Walk, this award-winning restaurant and pub is the perfect place to refuel, relax and sip a refreshing drink after a walk on the Heath. The Tavern comprises stylish intimate first floor dining rooms, a spacious ground floor bar and sitting room, and an outside area - giving plenty of choice whatever the weather. Expect a wide variety of food, London Pride real ale for beer drinkers and an extensive cocktail/wine list. You can even buy organic dog food for your furry companions!

Social – Hampstead Summer Festival

Hampstead residents have a soft spot for this annual festival, which brings together the best of the neighbourhood infused with a real village feel. The jam-packed two weeks, normally in July, are filled with activities linked to the arts, culture and social scene. There's normally a theme for each festival - 2015's was Alice in Wonderland - and a nominated charity where proceeds are sent. Check out www.hampsteadsummerfestival.com for details of the next festival and how to get involved.
